These are simple, but done with different techniques and programs. Up above is purely digital, drawn and painted in Photoshop.

The guy below was drawn in Adobe Illustrator according to a pencil sketch, then coloured in Photoshop. I’m happy with the ink lines I’m able to create, and they’re fast to do, too.

This strange woman was painted in black wash on paper, then coloured in Photoshop. Nifty! I want to be able to blend the colours more.

Still, all things considered, they look good to me, and my pics will continue to get only better.

Happy New Year’s, all three of you visiting this blog! It’s business as usual at Utopia Moment. I’m still playing with my Wacom Intuos, but I also enjoy the old school tools. These are a pile of faces, in gloomy watercolours.

I’m very happy that my local art store has returned to stocking this paper that I like. Will have to buy a block of it soon, before it vanishes again.

Haven’t blogged much recently. Mainly because I’ve been busy, and drawing little bits and pieces of things as I learn my new tool, the Wacom Intuous Tablet. But there are some exciting projects happening in the new year, and I hope lots of interesting stuff to draw and put up.

This is a watercolour man with an odd photoshop background. Compelling, for sure. I’m working on more ambitious things, when the cats don’t throw up on them.

This feels slightly less demented than most of my offerings, but I’m probably kidding myself. All the same, I feel more control of my medium and the effects it creates, and also my drawing. Hooray!

Still painting random faces, from DVDs, and my squirming imagination. Kind of enjoying it at the moment.

I’m doing comic colouring in Photoshop. Shouldn’t be so difficult, but I’m thinking of it a lot. Then a little watercolour.

This guy is vaguely based on John Cusack from the movie “Say Anything,” but I was too lazy to draw a portrait. So he becomes “random guy,” because it’s too cold to go out on the balcony and draw people.

I dislike ink outlines, but am working on hard and soft edges in drawings. Leaving the middles alone in this case, or giving them a gentle wash.

This kid was pushing down traffic markers the other day. So I drew him. If you see this kid around your neighbourhood, tell him to leave the traffic markers alone.
