Leaping Car

By in paintings, sketches, watercolour

This is fun. Call it part of my Blue Period. Easy to add little colours here and there, and underneath. Unlike many people I know, I like painting and drawing machines, though don’t have a fondness for the ruler. I fancy this gives them more personality. I like objects with personality, and strive to put […]

Aviator

By in men, paintings, watercolour

Been slacking off on the sketch-blogging, I’m afraid. Will have to get back into it. i.e. don’t give a darn about what I post!

F1 Confusion

By in horses, montreal, paintings, sketches, watercolour

Yesterday, I went to check out the Formula 1 Festivities downtown in Montreal. Snapped a few photos, as above. Kind of tiring, the whole thing, so I took a pit stop in Dorchester Square, ate French Fries, and sketched the equestrian monument to the wildly popular Boer War.

Back After a Bit

By in cats, men, paintings, watercolour, women

Didn’t blog for a while. Cause I was sick, and busy, then wasn’t doing much that pleased me. Still could be happier, but at least I’m painting some things. Not horribly thrilled with how the paper’s working. Maybe it’s always absorbed and lightened paint, but I thought that was how it worked, until I painted […]

Trying to make these as intense as possible, colour-wise. Don’t know if they work. But there you are!

Musketeers and Horses

By in horses, paintings, sketches, watercolour

While I was painting these, I was watching the excellent Cyrano de Bergerac movie with Gérard Depardieu. I had the honour of working with Mr. Depardieu, as an extra in the crowd, for the film Nouvelle France. Didn’t see much of him, but he seemed like a real gent.

Tonight’s Efforts

By in men, montreal, paintings, watercolour

Painting more stuff tonight, after working hard. Tough days, actually, in various ways, though things aren’t bad. Getting stuff going, making decisions, dealing with things. Hope it all works out! It is February, though. One thing is from a photo, the other an elaboration of a quick sketch I made.

Abandoned Building

By in montreal, paintings, watercolour

Painted this today, from a friend’s photo of a building (I think) near Turcot Yards. Should do a lot more of these sorts of things.

Back to Jack

By in cats, men, paintings, sketches, watercolour, women

Finished with the labour-intensive event chronicling for now, and back to boring little drawings. They don’t attract as many hits! Still, I’m very happy to have started using the Sony Vegas editing program, and mastered at least a few of the basics. (can’t imagine wanting to use many of those tacky special effects and wipes, […]

De-Zombifying

By in men, paintings, watercolour, women

One last zombie-related picture, painted on Hallowe’en night, appropriately enough. A tribute to Remy, the mohawked guy in the picture, whose gory stage makeups inspired me in this project in making regular people scary. It was quite an experience, exploring one’s morbid side. Also freedom in making pleasant faces look as disgusting as possible. A […]
