On chintzy paper, no less! Probably a reaction to trying to be so neat and precise the last time, and crying over a misplaced dot of green paint. These are at least more fun to do!

This is Nekko Dekko, the protector of Honshu. Below, a couple of people in red: You’d think it would be easier, painting two pictures on the same piece of paper at the same time. Saves effort stretching it, and all that. But it’s too easy to splatter dark blobs of paint around, and therefore not […]

The “They Live!” alien family who put up the lost cat poster in yesterday’s drawing got their pet back. This has made their gruesome little daughter especially happy. When they’re not telling earth people to “OBEY” and “CONSUME,” this couple collects cats from different worlds. Below, the “Alien ™” cat has forged an alliance with […]

More pics drawn collaboratively at the Cock N’ Bull bar on Friday night. Sadly, my friend Marr wasn’t there, but Rick and I drew some choice items. The one above, by both of us, based on the John Carpenter movie, makes me smile every time I look at it. Then there’s Erich Von Stroheim, drawn […]

Pen drawings of tough guys. Above, his Plastic Jesus comforts him. Below, two tough guys, and a tough black cat. Lastly, a tough girl, walking in through the door of this bar I was sitting in (the Dieu du Ciel), plus some sketches of Volkswagens for a friend’s project I’m involved with.

Bought a couple of different size of roller pens at the Oiseau Bleu art store in East Montreal. It’s one of the last independent art stores in the city, now that Art Tec on Bleury and Sherbrooke is closing, or so I hear. Darn. Omer des Serres has good prices on things, sometimes, but it’s […]

I like this pair. It’s a music teacher and his student. The background is what you get if you mess your paint around after applying it to dry paper. I’m often frustrated in trying to get a smooth perfect wash, but find this sort of thing much more interesting to look at.

Another drawing by Gagnon from last Friday evening, which I inked today. He has a large comic and original comic art collection, and knowledge of styles and inking patterns I can only guess at. Those trees, rocks, and puffs of smoke, and that Jack Kirby-ish machinery, for instance. He also likes big heads in containers.

Back to the bar, with Rick and Marr. Again, Marr did some drawings in his own little sketchbook, but I didn’t get snaps. Rick and I drew heads. Above is werewolf Orson Welles, by me, inked by Rick. Below, Leonard Cohen-like bar guy, drawn by Rick and inked my me. But I did that later, […]

Still been sick and busy. Plus, my little cat is at the vet’s getting her tubes tied, or ripped out (whatever they do to spay little cats). So not much on the sketch front, outside of this. Apparently, I missed strange goings on at the Montreal Comic Jam last night, which I will have to […]
