Of course, they have some new kind of name, which I forget at the moment. (“Unidentified Aerial Phenomena”!) These were made in Blender, which I am still fooling with, but seems to change a lot, so it’s hard to keep up with the new interfaces and all. I like the finish on the one in […]

Aloysuis and his Room
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DHere’s the final version of my “Green Monster” diorama. I find this quite charming. A lot of work went into getting the graphics and the lighting right. While I’m still a beginner in Blender 3D, I learned a lot here. “Aloysuis” is pronounced “Allo-wishus” if anyone doesn’t know.
Monster 3
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DI placed a rusty steam pipe into my Blender monster scene, but didn’t have the energy to add a spiffy valve to it, or a lot of joints with bolts on them. Still, I’m pleased with my mastery of the “spin” tool. One more thing learned! #b3d
Improved Green Monster
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DSlightly improved green sea monster. #b3d
Green Monster
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, dinosaursStill working on critters and figures, in Blender 3D!
3D Volkswagen
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DWell, I made my 3D Volkswagen. Not perfect, and still a lot I can do, but I think it’s better practice to move on to other projects rather than fiddle with this one indefinitely. However, that’s what computers invite you to do! #b3d
3D Volkswagen — Work in Progress
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DWork in progress… #b3d
Safety Pins
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3DThey’re jewelry for a character I’m building. I was worried they would take a long time, but they didn’t, and that’s pleasing. The character is taking longer than I would like, but I feel I am learning things. #b3d
3D Bathroom
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, digitalI’m terribly proud of this bathroom corner, but it needs brighter lighting. The towel was a sophisticated simulation, which I need to practice. The tissue paper was a tour de force, but the box needs a logo of some sort. The program only crashed on me once, so I’ve learned to save more often. Next […]
Christine
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, digital3D is challenging stuff. I’ve learned a little about putting in backgrounds. Lighting is a whole different thing. Also, this is the first car I made. Others are less blocky. But it reminds me of the car from the Stephen King novel. #b3d
Wonders of Technology
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, headsSpent most of the day building this elaborate portrait head in Blender 3D. You know, people are the hardest things to do in 3D. But I didn’t have time to paint him, so I made him into a Roman Bust. Then I put that silly hat on him. I’m very happy, because this sort of […]
Happy Valentine’s Day
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, colorThis is a strange thing with hearts in it, that I made in 3D. So there you go!
Tom Swift
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, digitalI did this for a Facebook “challenge,” meaning there was a call for illustrations on the subject of “Tom Swift and his [adjective] [adjective] [noun]. I used it as a chance to practice my 3D spaceships and various digital chops. I could rant a little about the non-user friendliness of the program Blender, but I’m […]
Bronze Age Hoard
By Jack Ruttan in Blender 3D, digitalIt’s either that, or a child’s playset. At any rate, I’m childishly thrilled that I can create realistic-looking objects out of my head using the Blender 3D software. The carpet was kind of an accident. #b3d
