I’m doing at least a painting a day at the moment. And in standard sizes. Besides this, a lot of images were orphaned when the blog broke down. Think I will put them into a slideshow, just so’s you can see them. Or, a really large post.

Alien Character
By Jack Ruttan in color, watercolourJust a little painting I did today.
Unbroken Blog
By Jack Ruttan in sketches, watercolourSome things happened to the blog a couple of weeks ago. It’s back, however. A lot of things are missing, because the blog only reaches to when I did my last backup. I may just put up all the stuff that happens to be missing in one long post. In the meantime, here are a […]
New Year’s Kitty
By Jack Ruttan in cats, paintings, watercolourHappy New Year’s!
Random Painting
By Jack Ruttan in color, machines, men, paintings, watercolour, womenLooking through a closet, I found a block of watercolour paper with a few sheets on it. Painted this, while watching a documentary on the late Gerry Anderson — whose shows and spaceships were all over my childhood. The paper was very strange and spongey — hard to get detail onto it. Also, one’s paintings, […]
Watercolour Women
By Jack Ruttan in black and white, color, heads, paintings, pencil, watercolour, womenBeen painting sometimes strange watercolour portraits of women. Going for pretty more than scary, but they’re all interesting, at least. Plus, a bonus pencil drawing of a little boy, from the front cover of VOIR newsweekly:
Little Pictures
By Jack Ruttan in color, machines, sketches, watercolour, womenI enjoy painting these little pictures. May do some larger ones later, but don’t want to get all that complicated.
Maisonneuve Library
By Jack Ruttan in color, montreal, paintings, watercolourThis is a gift for a friend. A little painting of the Maisonneuve Library, in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal.
Guys, and a Dancer
By Jack Ruttan in color, heads, men, paintings, watercolour, womenAbove was copied from an old photo. I feel they get too tight when done that way. Want to loosen up some. And all the people below are looking in the same direction. Watercolour is more unforgiving than pencil (big discovery!) Still, I enjoy doing all the shading. Strong darks and lights help a lot.
Further Watercolour Heads
By Jack Ruttan in color, heads, men, sketches, watercolour, womenMaybe I should be doing other things, but I enjoy doing these. Looks like Sophia Loren and the Gangnam Style guy:
Warmer Times
By Jack Ruttan in color, men, paintings, sketches, watercolour, womenThe above was sketched on my friend’s verandah, when it was warmer, and possible to do such things. Below is more stuff from my head, and out of one of my books.
Alien Attack
By Jack Ruttan in paintings, watercolour, womenThis is a fun painting I did on a theme I was thinking about earlier.
Back to Watercolour
By Jack Ruttan in color, dogs, horses, men, sketches, watercolour, womenFeels so relaxing painting in watercolours after all this digital staring into the screen thing. I also enjoy painting animals and backgrounds, not to mention plants. So maybe that means some real painting at last. It’s hard to find time for that, though. This sketching I do is mainly therapeutic. Beats punching a wall and […]
