Nightmare Puppy Dogs

By in dogs, men, watercolour, women

Failed painting. I’m still putting it up here, because it looks vaguely Edvard Munch-like. Reading a how-to-draw book which said that before you draw, you should visualize the head of a cute pet coming through the paper, and draw as if you’re caressing that head. But I just drew the head, added legs and a […]

Bombastic Brush and Ink

By in horses, men, sketches, women

These brush drawings feel bombastic to me. A little quieter now that they’re scanned and put up. Still, that big brush line seems to “yell” more than the spidery pen. Harsh contrasts. The page below is from one of those big books, and it’s hard to cover all that area with the brush. Also, my […]

Insomniac Doodling

By in horses, sketches, women

I feel asleep earlier in the evening, so didn’t get to sleep when it was time for bed. Sinking in and out, I dreamed in that half awake way that a famous author was staying at my place. Unfortunately I forgot the name of his new book that he told me. Later, I made myself […]

This Always Happens…

By in cats, dogs, men, montreal, sketches, women

I’ve been in a bit of a mood lately, and not posting much. But still drawing things. Some of which are clever, or all right. I’ve actually got 3 comic strips on the go, which I’d like to finish. Those, of course, are all brilliant. We’ll see. In the meantime, because Easter weekend was warm, […]

Painted Pair

By in men, sketches, watercolour, women

I’m happy with this new-fangled green painter’s tape, which is a little less sticky than normal masking tape. But it can be left on, and also comes off without residue. Mind you, it doesn’t make things square for you. You still have to do that yourself.

Pugs, and Skeleton Dude

By in dogs, montreal, sketches, women

I haven’t been posting very much! Sorry. Haven’t been in the mood. I like this drawing of a woman and her pug, however. Something extra. I’ve been seeing these little cutouts of this skeleton dude and his toaster around the neighbourhood. Snapping them with my camera, before they get taken down, because these things don’t […]

Warm and Sunny Day

By in cats, dogs, men, sketches, women

It was such, yesterday when I drew these, and it’s another such today. Happy to draw real animals, etc, from my balcony. Other people are TV and DVD-inspired faces. Not so bad, but I’m waiting for people to start walking by looking less frozen and bundled up.

Another Skater

By in women

I just found this in the book, and thought I’d put it up, part of a late night blog post. That makes me feel less guilty about not posting anything yesterday.

Just means “pictures,” I think.

It’s The Little Book Again!

By in cats, men, sketches, women

More sketches from the little black hardcover book. I like that little book. The paper’s nice (can take a wash), and it’s small and scans reasonably well, if I don’t draw too close to the binding. Never got into Molesquines, and that sort of thing. (Not even sure how to pronounce that!) But I do […]
