Insomniac Doodling

By in horses, sketches, women

woman-1

I feel asleep earlier in the evening, so didn’t get to sleep when it was time for bed. Sinking in and out, I dreamed in that half awake way that a famous author was staying at my place. Unfortunately I forgot the name of his new book that he told me. Later, I made myself some too hot vegetable ramen soup, and drew these sketches.

I’m posting them in this “big” format because I kind of like how it takes over the computer screen. I’ve been lax on other duties, but will try to get to them, and not worry too much. Later!

This Always Happens…

By in cats, dogs, men, montreal, sketches, women

animals3

I’ve been in a bit of a mood lately, and not posting much. But still drawing things. Some of which are clever, or all right. I’ve actually got 3 comic strips on the go, which I’d like to finish. Those, of course, are all brilliant. We’ll see.

animals4

In the meantime, because Easter weekend was warm, I sketched some animals and other things I saw from my balcony. These you see here (some are a little exaggerated). Also played with my graphics tablet. Those you won’t see! At least not now.

In the meantime, check out my Good Friday Window Cats.

Saw a cute cat downstairs when I went out to get groceries. So I pledged that I would snap every cat I encountered on the trip to the supermarket. The last one is my girl cat, in the window. The toughest one to get was the orange cat, cause a beefy guy was sitting on his step when I took out the camera. But I pretended he wasn’t there, and snapped the cat, and that was that.

I’ve gotten in trouble for some of my street snapping. But that’s part of the game.

Big Ugly Face

…that I drew last night when I couldn’t sleep. Don’t know if he helped, but he reflected my mood. I like how the drawings on the back of the paper show through.

Painted Pair

I’m happy with this new-fangled green painter’s tape, which is a little less sticky than normal masking tape. But it can be left on, and also comes off without residue. Mind you, it doesn’t make things square for you. You still have to do that yourself.

Cat Violence

By in cats, ruttan's place, sketches

superkitten

Cats are slime. Little cat this morning woke me up by knocking over books and a fan, as above. I’m sure she thought she was awesome.

Below is a rendering of cat violence at its worst, chez Ruttan. The large cat, Mr. Boggedy, thwacks with his eyes closed, which is a little ineffectual. But he’s always very relaxed, until he runs away. Nora, on the left, usually starts things. Ms. Boggedy likes seeing other cats get thwacked.

Pugs, and Skeleton Dude

By in dogs, montreal, sketches, women

woman-and-pug-dog

I haven’t been posting very much! Sorry. Haven’t been in the mood. I like this drawing of a woman and her pug, however.

Something extra. I’ve been seeing these little cutouts of this skeleton dude and his toaster around the neighbourhood. Snapping them with my camera, before they get taken down, because these things don’t last long. They’re not mine, but I like them. Hope you do, too!

Things I Saw

By in horses, men, sketches

scene1

Some of them in my mind. I did see a walking guy with a moustache, and some form of skyline. A Hercules plane flew over, but a James Bond jeep didn’t fall out. I saw Kate Beaton ponies on the web. Guess the figures will now be a valuable collectors item. That’s all for now.

I’m not too fond of this, though it’s big, and was a lot of work. Well, more planning next time, rather than just drawing things to fit a page. Next ones will be better!

More New Stuff, and Renovations, Too.

By in cats, men, sketches, watercolour

watercolour-goomba

New stuff. I guess kind of the same, but I like it like that. I’m also enjoying some of the new gadgets on the blog. Don’t want to make it too busy.

I tried a couple of new themes, but didn’t like them as much as this one. This one was pretty old, and didn’t have a lot of devices I could use in it, but seems to be working.

I’ll fool with some other stuff, and see how it works. Unfortunately, I’m not a genius with CSS or any kind of computer programming, though I hazard to tinker.

tuxie

This quick sketch I think really captured an aspect of Nora, the new cat. As spring comes in, she’s sort of lording it over the other two cats. Or, at least they’re nervous of her, but seem to hold their own. It’s a house of happy cats, still. Which is great.

awardswomancol

I Photoshop coloured the woman I drew yesterday. Not that great at it, but that’s how you learn and get better.

Warm and Sunny Day

By in cats, dogs, men, sketches, women

randomanimals

It was such, yesterday when I drew these, and it’s another such today. Happy to draw real animals, etc, from my balcony.

Other people are TV and DVD-inspired faces. Not so bad, but I’m waiting for people to start walking by looking less frozen and bundled up.
