Morning sketches, to clear my head, and chase away the nightly terrors. I’m on my front balcony, the sun just peeping over the buildings and trees. These are just things I’ve done yesterday and today. The usual things I’ve seen, either real or on TV, and faces, of course. Out of my head, and from […]

Many watercolour types have to spend a lot on sketchbooks, with the proper paper and all. I found these black spiral-bound books at Dollarama, and they’re pretty good for watercolour. I worry about the paper, since it probably isn’t acid-free. Also, it tends to break free from the perforations along the side rather easily. But […]
I drew 4 tiny landscapes with watercolour pencils, basically as quickly as I could, without thinking about them. This I call the “I can do nothing wrong” style of painting, because I tell myself that as I do it.
Here are a bunch of images from my sketchbook recently. In gouache, coloured (and not) pencil.
A page of pencil sketches. Something Harry Potter-y, and more people, drawn with watercolour pencils both activated and not.
I still draw a lot in my little books, but I haven’t been updating the blog every day like I used to. Maybe I’m just getting soft in my old age, or more choosy of what I put up. Here, I’m not being choosy, but this is a little of what I’ve been doing as […]
I love dinosaurs. Always have. Still, I’m trying to keep up with current thought on what they looked like, and not just redraw old images that probably didn’t exist. I like the idea that even the carnivorous ones were probably not monsters, but animals out in the wild. Also, during my summer I worked at […]
This is my T-shirt design for the 2014 Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Quebec Garlic Festival. That event will happen next week, August 23, 2014. Finally saw the design in print last night at the get-together for volunteers. This happened at a pretty little place called the Coop du Grand Orme. Snaps of things are below. The band is […]
A lot of little drawings here, so I’m trying a new feature on WordPress (new to me, anyhow). A “Gallery.” Enjoy! Actually, it’s kind of cool, having the random order. Wish there was a function for captions, however!
Not sure if I should call them “Colour Pencilled Couple,” but maybe someone will advise.
Saw her in the Tom Cruise movie Jack Reacher, which was a little better than the Lee Child book that I read featuring the character, but that’s not saying much. Anyhow, she as pretty enough, so I searched out a photo to draw a portrait. Here’s a page of faces. The woman in the upper […]
It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face at one of these. Also, the last post on this topic got wiped out in my server crash. Since it paid tribute to a late friend, I’m going to have to put it back together again. Still, even though I had to be reminded and coaxed, […]
A little sad about Shirley Temple, whom it seemed was an icon of indomitable “cute” childhood, and also proof that you could be a child star, and then turn out all right. Drew this image not as a portrait, just as an idea, based on her image. Also did some proper faces from magazines, in […]
I sort of really hate copying other people’s illustrations, but I learned a lot about hair here. She’s on the cover of this book about digital painting, which actually doesn’t tell you a lot about how to do digital painting (but does give you some tips and techniques if you already know what you’re doing. […]
