Not totally sure about the angry guy face, but that’s what’s happening at the moment in my sketchbooks. The person in the snow suit was real. No penguin, though. That was in honour of Matthew Brown, who sent me a hard copy of his book this week. Penguin Detective — The Case of No Case.
Here’s another painting from about 2014, of my friend’s cat, Amazon, in her back garden.
This is from an older sketchbook, so I suppose it qualifies as “archival.” It’s my friend’s back yard, with her cat, and even a portrait of her, on the left hand side, and Yours Truly on the right.
She hated being photographed, and, I’m assuming, would have hated being painted. But here you are….

This lady was sitting across from me as I was riding the Montreal Metro. She was actually flashier than this, and possibly indigenous. I didn’t sketch her on the spot, but I drew my impression of her later, and scanned it for here. Mainly to prove I could do it….
This is a drawing out of an old sketchbook. I’m getting back into comics and things, I promise…..
This guy’s photo went by quickly on my iPhone, and I tried to sketch him as quickly as I could. He’s 6×9 inches, in graphite on crappy dollar store paper.
I was digging through what I laughingly call my “archives,” and this little painting fell out. It’s a portrait I did some years ago of our family’s childhood dog, Pimmy. He was a “Toy Terrier,” which meant he was a cross between a Jack Russell Terrier, and a beagle.
Not the brightest dog in the world, but I have fond memories of him.
Mostly drawn today, on the Montreal Metro.
